Research Core: North Dakota INBRE Biology Core Facility

As part of an ongoing series, the Biology core is hosting lectures on Biology research. These lectures are now available online, in Macromedia Breeze format.

2007 - 2008 Series
The first presenter of the new Series is Pierre Freeman, IBC and IACUC Director. NDSU Office of Sponsored Promrams. His presentation is on "Research Compliance".

Teryl Grosz, IRB Director/Research Compliance & Training Officer. Her presentation is on the tasks and responsibilities of the Institutional Review Board.

Two students from Minot State University give presentations on their research: Pam Clarkson gives a presentation on the "Effects of atrazine on thyroid hormone induction of metamorphosis in the axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)" and Heather Modrow gives a presentation entitled "Diet of Tiger Salamanders in North Dakota, with implications for flow of heavy metals through wetland food webs."

2006 - 2007 Series
he first presenter is Don Anton from Valley City State University. His presentation is entitled "Binding of 2,4-D to Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 2b".

Thomas Wahl; Senior Forensic DNA Analyst for the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology at North Dakota State Univeristy. His presentation provides a fascinating look at the history and methods behind forensic DNA typing.

Minot State University Student Moran L. Grundstad will discuss "Auxin and control of leaf expansion in Arabidopsis"

Berch Henry, Ph.D., Forensic Program Director, Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at North Dakota State University, presents an "Introduction to Forensic DNA Typing. Part 2".

Valley City State University - Student Tiffany Ost, advised by Andre DeLorme, Ph.D., will discuss The Effects of Atrazine on the Developmental Stages of the Fruit Fly, Drosophila Melanogaster.

Dennis Cooley, Ph.D., Associate Professor, NDSU Department of History, presents an "Introduction to Biomedical Ethics"
