Listed below are profiles related to biomedical sciences available through the programs at the University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks and at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo. These programs can lead graduates to rewarding careers in biomedical research.
North Dakota INBRE encourages candidates seeking graduate degrees in the biomedical sciences to explore the excellent educational opportunities available at both UND and NDSU. In addition, for those who have already completed a portion of their education or have an associate or baccalaureate degree, UND and NDSU welcome returning and transfer students, as well as students considering a second degree.

Anatomy. - [view program] - The UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers training through the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology. Students accepted into its graduate programs (M.S. or Ph.D.) prepare for careers in teaching, research, and industry. Programs for students will be based on the individual's scientific interests and career goals within the framework of required courses and activities.
Biochemistry. - [view UND program] [view NDSU program] - Students interested in a biochemistry career can receive a bachelor's degree in biochemistry or related science and further continue their studies at the graduate level. The UND Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers all levels of training for future biochemists. The NDSU Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology invites candidates to study biochemistry at undergraduate and graduate levels
Bioinformatics. - [view program] - The NDSU Graduate School offers an interdisciplinarygraduate program in Computational Bioinformatics (M.S. and Ph.D.) as a sub-specialty within the program in Genomics.
Biomechanics. - [view program] - The NDSU Department of Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics offers graduate programs leading to Masters and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering, with the possibility to choose a concentration in biomechanics and biomaterials.
Biomedical Engineering. - [view program] - The NDSU Department of Electrical Engineering offers both M.S and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering, with emphases on cardiovascular and bio-systems engineering.
Biostatistics. - [view program] - The NDSU Department of Statistics offers both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The department provides opportunities to study both applied and theoretical aspects of statistics.

Genomics. - [view program] - NDSU offers an inter-disciplinary graduate program in Genomics (M.S and Ph.D.) involving faculty from nine departments.
Gerontology. - [view UND program] [view NDSU program] - The UND Department of Social Work offers an undergraduate minor in Gerontology. The NDSU Department of Child Development & Family Science offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees with a Gerontology track.
Immunology. - [view program] - The UND Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers graduate programs leading to an M.S., Ph.D., and Ph.D. /M.D. degree.
Kinesiology. - [view program] - The UND Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science offers an M.S. program in kinesiology. The kinesiology program provides students with opportunities to study the scientific foundations of kinesiology as well as its professional applications.
Microbiology. - [view UND program] [view NDSU program] - The UND Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers M.S and Ph.D. programs in Microbiology. NDSU offers graduate studies leading to a M.S degree in Microbiology in the Department of Veterinary and Microbiological Sciences
Nutrition. - [view UND program] [view NDSU program] - The UND Department of Nutrition and Dietetics offers two undergraduate majors (Dietetics and Community Nutrition), and a minor in Nutrition. The NDSU Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences offers an undergraduate major in Dietetics and a minor in Nutrition. The department also offers a graduate program in Nutrition leading to an M.S degree.
Pharmaceutical Sciences. - [view program] - The NDSU Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers graduate programs (M.S and Ph.D). After the completion of either degree program, students have had a high level of success gaining challenging employment in academia, industry, and governmental agencies.
Pharmacology. - [view program] - The UND Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Therapeutics offers graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.) and also an M.D. / Ph.D. program.

The NDSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences offers graduate studies (M.S. and Ph.D.) in Reproductive Physiology and Nutritional Physiology.

The Minot State University Department of Communication Disorders & Special Education offers a M.S. degree in speech- language pathology and a post-baccalaureate program, designed for graduates with an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than in communication disorders.
