UND undergraduates to attend Johns Hopkins Winter Institute

Jason Champagne and Sierra Davis and Kyle Hill will attend the Center for American Indian Health 2011 Winter Institute at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Md., on Jan. 10-14.

Jason Champagne is a senior majoring in community nutrition and Indian studies. He is an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa and a past recipient of the Alan J. Allery Undergraduate American Indian Health Researcher of the Year award. Sierra Davis is a senior majoring in psychology with minors in Indian studies and nonprofit leadership. She is an enrolled member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. Kyle Hill is a doctoral student in the clinical psychology program and an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. All three students are doing research with Dr. Jacque Gray.

The Center for American Indian Health 2011 Winter Institute courses are designed to introduce indigenous health leaders to public health approaches that address health disparities in tribal communities.
