2015 Central Region IDeA Conference

On behalf of the North Dakota IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (ND INBRE) we would like to invite you to attend the Central Region IDeA conference at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota on June 1-3, 2015. The central theme of the first full day of the IDeA Central Regional Conference (June 2) will be promoting diversity through IDeA programs. The final half-day of the conference (June 3) will explore the role of the IDeA program in promoting economic development.

Owing to the highly successful Central Region IDeA conference in 2013 hosted by the K-INBRE, the first full day of the 2015 Central Region Conference will follow a similar format. In addition to daily lectures from academic leaders and NIH/NIGMS program representatives, each central region state will be given 3, 20 minute time slots for oral presentations to highlight the accomplishments within their respective INBRE and COBRE programs. In the near future, I will be contacting each Central State INBRE Principal Investigator and asking them to plan the oral presentations for their state. The format will strive to provide a friendly atmosphere conductive to open discussions and exchange of ideas on science and training.

The conference will open on Monday, June 1, with an evening reception and IDeA Regional Core Facility Marketplace. On Tuesday morning, the scientific program will continue with plenary lectures, keynote presentations from each region and end with a networking session both pre-and post-dinner. Representatives from the NIH/NIGMS will be present throughout and provide the latest updates and news that impacts our programs. The conference will conclude at noon on Wednesday.

Grand Forks is a small city that is a terminal stop for Delta Airlines. What this means is that flights to and from Grand Forks fill early and tend to be on the higher level of cost. Thus, those planning to fly into Grand Forks are encouraged to book flights early for the conference. There are also flights into Fargo which is approximately a one hour drive to Grand Forks.
